Calling all Bachelor Nation. It’s a New Year and there is a New Bachelor in town looking for love in beautiful Farmington, PA. He is Matt James, tall, dark and handsome and ready to find his wife. Yes, you have your usual above average and super attractive 20 something year old aspiring Instagram models looking to be the next Mrs. Matt James or at the very least improve their social media followers to 500,000+. And yes there will still be rose ceremonies, tears, drama, shocking moments, and everything we love for our favorite “Journey to Find Love” reality show.
But this season is different. It was filmed during a year of a pandemic where there will be no lavish travel, everyone is quarantined prior to filming, and all filming is done at a private resort (shout out to the beautiful Nemacolin Woodlands Resort! Adding that to the list of places I want to visit, you know, once we can travel again of course!). The biggest change to this season is that we will have not only a so called “Green Bachelor”, as Matt has no prior filming experience on any previous bachelor shows, other than his bestie is a bachelor nation favorite Tyler Cameron. This is also a historic season as Season 25 will feature their first Black Bachelor Lead of the show.
I’m excited to see what unfolds this season. I’m loving Matt so far. First impression of him is that he is humble, approachable, nervous, and really unsure how to act or what to say. I’m enjoying the vulnerability of it all and the fact that he is nervous and so unsure makes me believe he may be the most real and relatable lead to touch our screens. It’s refreshing to see as it seems more natural as he doesn’t try too hard to be perfect. He is very vocal about his faith and right off the bat has no problem leading a group of women in prayer on the first night. Another Bachelor first here as no lead has ever done this. Another sign that our Season 25 lead is not afraid to be himself, his true self.
Now let’s talk about the women and who we will be rooting for, hating on, and hope make it to hometowns or at least Bachelor in Paradise. Women I love so far: Rachel, Bri, Sarah, Abigail, Khaylah, Mari, Jessenia, Magi, and Lauren. Women I already hate: Queen Victoria (so far looking like the early Villain of the season), Kit (gives off resting bitch face too much for me), and Katie (I mean the vibrator screams trying to hard). The biggest issue I have already in this season is that most of the girls already fall into the 22-24 age range and in 2021 that has and continues to be a huge problem for this show. After a great season of mostly older, likeable and very mature group of men in Claire/Taiysha’s season, I’m finding it a little disappointing that Bachelor Producers went back to the very young group of women formula. I think both Colton and Peter’s season proved how much of a disaster that can be with most contestants looking to get famous and whom are not at all ready for marriage. So here is to hoping at least a handful of these women can prove me wrong and that this season of the Bachelor ends in a successful proposal as the last 3 have not.
I think we do have a great lead and a promising start to another strong season. I look forward to seeing what Matt James brings to the table and hopeful we have a successful proposal!
Cheers Bachelor Nation to Season 25 and here’s to hoping it’s the most dramatic season ever!
