You’d think this would be a long post with a complicated argument, but that’s definitely not the case. No, the agent does not represent Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, or even Gal Galdot. Hell, it’s not even the Agent who represents Danny Trejo who has 256 credits as an actor on IMBD.com. The best agent in Hollywood is the one who represents J.K. Simmons.
You’re probably thinking that’s a crazy argument, but have you actually taken the time to look through his filmography? Take out your phone and head on over to IMDB.com to check out all his movies….go ahead, I’ll wait. Forget the fact that he has 199 film credits as an actor or that he was in award winning movies like La La Land and Up In The Air, that’s not what makes his agent so amazing. It’s the fact that his client J.K. Simmons has somehow managed to jump from comic book universe to comic book universe when they are dominating the box office.
I want you to think about that for a second. During the past decade when the battle between Marvel and DC Comics for supremacy of the Comic Book Movie Universe has reached a fever pitch, somehow J.K. Simmons has been able to be part of both. The closest analogy would be a baseball scout who somehow finds himself working for both the Yankees and the Red Sox during the arms race of the early 2000’s. In this case, I guess the Red Sox would be Marvel since they dominated the Yankees for most of the decade (suck it Yankees fans). In the DC Universe he has taken on the role of Commissioner Gordon and in the MCU he portrays J. Jonah Jameson. What’s crazy is that both roles are actually a fairly large in the their respected universes (I’d argue a top 10 character).
Beyond that, when Spiderman was still controlled by Sony, he was in that too, again as J. Jonah Jameson. Now let’s be honest, when you think of a pompous newspaper editor who hates superheroes, does anyone look more like that character than J.K. Simmons? Hell, even in the Spiderman Cartoon, the animated character even looks like Simmons.
I need to know how is this possible? J.K. Simmons’ agent either has some very dirty pictures of some very powerful people, or he’s the best negotiator in the history of the the movie business. And I’m here to say Bravo because the roles he’s been able to secure are simply amazing for his client. Simmons has been able to play a major role in some of the largest grossing movies in history and then jump on board with the competition. If I was an actor in Hollywood, this is the agent that I’d like to have in my corner.
