Prior to Covid, I was never a Blog Reader let alone a Blog Writer (I still don’t consider myself one). I would read ESPN or Bleacher Report, and that’s where I’d get my news. Every once in a while I’d fall down the rabbit hole on Facebook and stumble upon a blog but it was always a one time thing. It wasn’t until the world shut down in 2020 that I started to explore the blogging world…I finally had time. And I quickly found myself all-in on Barstool Sports. It started with the SiriusXM radio station, then I found their Instagram, and from there, I started to read their blogs. And I couldn’t stop reading them; they were interesting, they were funny, and I was hooked.
What I realized is that as well as those blogs were written (and they were well written), they were written by someone like me; a person with a passion for writing with a unique take on life and a sense of humor. So after spending several months reading others people’s thoughts, I decided my opinions should be shared as well. I bought a domain and from October 2020 until August 2021, I wrote 96 Blogs and felt more and more accomplished each time I saw someone visited my site. It didn’t matter if it was my wife reading, a friend, or a stranger; as the view count increased, I got more and more excited to write each night.
But then someone wonderful happened, and the world returned to normal; or what we referred to as the “new normal” in August 2021. I returned to my career in the concert industry which has me working 60 hours a week, and between that, and spending time with my amazing wife and daughter, there wasn’t much time for writing. I still wrote down potential blog topics on my phone or in my note book, but those thoughts never were shared. And I have zero regrets, I loved every minute of the past year with my family and friends. But during these past months, I had an epiphany that you only live once, so if you have a passion for something, find a way to enjoy it. So that being said, I’m excited that this is my semi-triumphant return to the blogging world.
But what to write about after 12 months? When I initially sat down to write my return blog, it was going to be about everything I’ve been up to in last year, and trying to summarize 12 months worth of thoughts into one post. But let’s be honest, nobody cares. However, as I was brainstorming, I realized that what I really wanted to write about is my new found respect for all bloggers.
Until you have actually done it, you might not realize that writing is hard, and even harder, is writing consistently with fresh ideas. Everyone has a life, a job, and/or a family that requires attention. So you have to respect those bloggers who find time to write multiple times a week. The dedication it takes to be consistent is hard and for that, I salute all the bloggers out there. My goal is to rejoin the blogging universe with getting my thoughts out them multiple times a week with my own unique take on the world of sports and modern culture.
Now that the sappy post is out of the way, the next one if going to be all the blog ideas that I never wrote. Some are good, some are bad……and more are just awful. So be ready because I’m back and looking forward to it.
Nice blog
