Ironically, this post has nothing to do with his basketball skills! While I do think he’s on the wrong side of the bell curve when it comes to age, the post is actually about how Steph Curry is what we are going to be losing when he does retire from the NBA.
Think about the current “Super Stars” of the NBA, how do they present themselves and more importantly, what do they mean to the fans. I’ll be honest, for the longest time I was “Anti-Steph”….maybe it’s because my wife is a die-hard Warriors fan or maybe its because I’m a Celtics fan and we lost out on a banner because of him. Regardless, for the past couple of years, I viewed him as a super star who’s fandom was unwarranted.
But, thanks to the internet and apps like Tik Tok and Twitter, the impact he’s making on fans is becoming more visible. I’ll share a video below (and if you cry join the club) but you will realize how a player like Steph realizes what he represents to fans. Michael Jordan once said “there’s a fan out there who’s seeing me for the first time” when asked about why he always plays so hard, and it seems like that mentality is fading. Steph seems to be all in on that mindset as he takes time out before / after each game to engage with this fans and provide that spark some seem to need in their lives.
I hope more NBA Players take note on the impact Steph Curry makes on the world. He see’s his role as more than just and ambassador for the sport, but to inspire people to make a difference.
And with that, I’m not crying you’re crying.
