I created a monster and I absolutely love it. A couple weeks ago I wrote about how my mom recently got into sports gambling during her retirement, and the story has gone to the next level.
As the site evolves, I thought it would be fun to showcase both our daily picks because how many people can say their mom gives them shit when they make a bad bet. Every weekend we start our day talking about who we are taking, and the following day we discuss who screwed us. So why not share this with the world.
Today is the launch of the Sporks Bets page, and as such, I asked for her initial picks on tomorrow’s games, and I never thought in a million years this would be the text I got back.
I was thinking I’d just get back some Top 25 picks but she went deep into the board. She even threw in some over/unders which I wasn’t expecting. I’ve been sports betting for years, and I would have never even looked at the Appalachian St vs Georgia Southern game, but there she is taking App St -9. And how about that line about Parlays and Teasers, who saw that coming?
Now I know she won’t actually put money on all these games, but the fact that she did the research means this site is about to get interesting. The Mama Spork brand has just entered the arena, so I’m excited to see how she does. And honestly, I’m a little nervous, because what would be more embarrassing that your mom being a better gambler than you…..and she’s retired with no kids at home, she’s got nothing but time.
